Metro in Action...loving our neighbors!

Sunday, June 5th from 11am-2pm - 603 Arizona Avenue, Santa Monica

This is an opportunity for us to put into action what we've
learned about being a family on a mission to reach our local community with God's love!

On June 5th, the City of Santa Monica is hosting an event (called Coast) to celebrate the arrival of the train. Local businesses and organizations will be actively involved in this citywide event.

We, as a church in this community, are participating by
hosting a community outreach day at Metro to love our neighbors and serve our neighborhood. We see this as an opportunity for a soft opening as we invite our neighbors into Metropolis to share:

  • A Community Worship Service
  • Interactive teaching from God's Word
  • Craft Coffee
  • Great food from the Taco Man
  • Inspiring Music
  • Fun activities for all ages
  • A collaborative workspace

What's your part in this call to action?

  • Invite someone in your sphere of influence...bring them.
  • Join a team to serve
  • Support financially
  • Pray

Jesus said, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:34-35

Metropolis is the name we've given the new building God has provided us in Downtown Santa Monica. One definition for the word Metropolis is "a center of activity within a city". Metro Church's original vision (1987) includes a ‘Home Base' that provides a storefront connection to the local community throughout the week, not just Sundays. Essentially, we're infusing ourselves (Metro) into our community (Polis: Greek for the citizenship of a city).

Metro Church still gathers here on Sundays, which is a great time to be together as followers of Christ! But, we've come to understand that church is not only about Sunday Services and not defined by a building; it is about people doing life together everyday as we walk-out the mission of Jesus Christ as a family.

Metropolis Cafe: During the week, the 1st floor of Metropolis will feature a cafe that will make it a local destination for coffee lovers, food enthusiasts and event-goers in search of something more. It is a place that provides a strong sense of true community for everyone who walks through the door.

Metro CollaborativeThe 2nd floor of our new building is a shared work space for Christians, but it is much more than that! Yes, it is a place where you can find a quiet spot and get some work done but also imagine a place where professionals, creatives and vocational ministers from different local congregations and non-profits work side by side for the glory of God!

Over the years, we have come to believe that Metro's original vision is not only for Metro Church but is also a picture of the Body of Christ operating in unity on the Westside of Los Angeles. We now see the vision portraying Metro as one community, made up of various ministries that partner with other local congregations to reach the city with God's love. We believe God loves the world through us, His church.

life groups fall series

September 20th - November 21st

The foundation of Metro is built on these small groups that meet to share in a study of the bible and how it applies to our daily lives, developing a sense of community, intimacy and accountability. We believe that discipleship happens through relationships in community and that a commitment beyond Sundays is critical to staying connected.

Please plan to attend one of these groups that meet throughout the week.

FRIDAY, April 3, 2014 at 3pm - Santa Monica Beach (on the sand just north of the parking lot connected to the north side of Santa Monica Pier)

We had another great time at our annual Good Friday Service & Baptism at the beach in Santa Monica! This year we met  at the same location as last year - on the sand just north of the parking lot connected to the north side of the Santa Monica Pier.

As always, it was easy to find because of the large wooden cross that we put in the sand.

The service featured worship, a teaching by Pastor Steve, communion and a baptism in the ocean.

family church service now at 11am!

Beginning Sunday, February 1st our Family Church Service will begin at 11am, instead of 9:30am.!

In this "family" service kids are integrated with their parents and other adults in a family environment where the kids are part of our story.

After some kid-friendly worship at 11am (downstairs at ROC Santa Monica) the kids go upstairs to the 3rd floor room on the rooftop for a kid-friendly, object-lesson type teaching with the Children’s Ministry teachers/assistants.

Having worked closely with Pastor Steve for the past year Rob Terrell will now lead this service as the main teacher!

Note: Parents please try to be on time (right at 11am) as the first few worship songs downstairs will be specifically for the kids before they are dismissed to go upstairs. Thanks!

We celebrated Jesus' birthday by hearing a short message about WHO Christmas is really all about while enjoying Christmas music!
